Starlight kids' first flight

Today marks the Starlight Children's Foundation's 25th year of granting the wishes of seriously ill children.

The Starlight Children's Foundation have helped more than 100,000 children battling illness each year.

To celebrate a quarter of a century of changing lives, 25 children were given the experience to board their first ever joy flight over Sydney.

The charity's CEO Louise Baxter says when illness or accident changes a child's life, the Starlight Children's Foundation is there to help."At Starlight we are the only children's charity with a permanent physical presence in every major paediatric hospital in the country," Ms Baxter said.

There were 25 children on the flight, one for each year that the Starlight Foundation has been helping children and their families.

The X Factor's 'The Collective' also put on an in-flight performance for the 25 kids on board the plane.

Each year the charity needs to raise $20 million from private donors.Last year they helped 129,060 children in hospitals and health programs across Australia.
