Christmas Wine

Reporter: Natalie Bonjolo

Tis the season for summer whites. Ray says "I'm looking for wines with good fruit quality, they;'re well made and you ujust enjoy drinking them." Today we're tasting with The West Australian's Ray Jordan, big whites on a small budget.

With so many well priced white wines on the market, Ray has rated his top ten drops, under twenty dollars but the big surprise is a winning white that sells for less that seven dollars.

But first, the top ten from twenty dollars down- starting with

The Lane Block 1A single vineyard Chardonnay at twenty dollars

Next, a Vinaceous Sirenya Pinot Grigio, at $19.95

also making the top ten- a Mount Trio Riesling at $19.50

Next, is the West Cape Howe Semillon Sauvignon Blanc, at $17 dollars

Moondah Brook Verdelho, at $16 dollars a bottle

Followed by Deep Woods Ivory Semillon Sauvignon Blanc at $14.95

Coming in next is big seller, Houghtens White Classic for $13 dollars a bottle

and at ten dollars a bottle, next is the Deakin Estate Chardonnay

Oxford Landing Pinot Grigio, at $9 a bottle

but it's the final drop, that's beat the lot,

the 2013 De Bortelli Sacred Hill Chardonnay for $6.50.

So good he's convinced it will silence the wine snobs. Ray says "The good thing is at this time of the year the big supermarket chains are doingsome crazy discouting, so while the prices i often quote are full retail price, the reality is you will get them for a lot cheaper" Savings that should bring plenty of Christmas cheer to your table and if you want to really make a splash this year, Ray suggests dare to be different. "My final tip for Christmas day is a sparkling Australian Shiraz it really does make the turkey taste so good."
