City of Perth CEO Frank Edwards said the problem was caused by software error which resulted in tickets displaying an expiry time that was not consistent with the amount of money paid. For example, customers may have paid for 60 minutes but tickets only credited them with 55 minutes.

The software glitch is understood to have been restricted to West Perth between Wednesday afternoon 12 November and Thursday afternoon 13 November.

The City acknowledges the concerns of customers and asks anyone who believes they were issued with an infringement notice as a result of the technical error to contact the City on 1300 366 461.
