Model Railways

A tiny world, built from scratch.

Ross Parker is Vice President of the WA model railway club, where Gary's a member. While Gary's model is mini-Germany, the club's main train line is quintessential WA.

This is the oldest model railway club in Perth, but its future is uncertain, but the club is determined to get younger generations through their doors.

"They can bring their computer skills with them. I can run my trains with my iPhone. So we're keeping up."

Gary reckons there's no need to spend thousands or even hundreds of dollars, everyone starts somewhere.

Fifteen year old Michael Deacon-Fobister, was introduced to model railways by his grandad, "I just enjoy it. It's something fun. You're not staring at a screen so you don't get square eyes."

A hobby that can build bridges between the generations.
