One of Australia 's favourite game shows, WHEEL OF FORTUNE hits a milestone when it airs its 5000 th episode on TUESDAY MARCH 21 - an Australian television record!

Host Larry Emdur and co host Laura Csortan celebrate this milestone.

Emdur says: "I have only been with the show for all of five minutes but knew I was coming into a big year for Wheel and feel very privileged to be here hosting the 5000 th episode. I am having a great time with the show and enjoying every minute".

Launching in 1981, Wheel of Fortune also celebrates its 25 th year on air this July.

The show has seen six hosts in its 25 year history including original host Ernie Sigley followed by John Burgess who hosted Wheel for 12 years. Tony Barber then joined the show closely followed by Rob Elliott and Steve Oemcke before Larry Emdur joined in 2006.

Other hostesses have included Adriana Xenides who turned the letter board for 16 years followed by Kerrie Friend and Sophie Falkiner.

Voice over and warm up man John Deeks joined the show in 1984 and continues in this role having read over 4.5 million words as part of his prize voice-overs on the show.

The Wheel has turned more than 200,000 times with over 13,000 puzzles being used. There have been more than 9300 contestants on Wheel of Fortune and over 6000 people audition for the show every year with female contestants still outnumbering male contestants three to one.
