They're household names for being high achievers, but are today's celebrities' fleet of foot or do they have two left feet?

Viewers will soon find out on Seven's DANCING WITH THE STARS, hosted by Daryl Somers and co-host Sonia Kruger.

The eight celebrities who have dared to be paired up with Australia's slickest professional dancers for a live television ballroom dancing competition are officially revealed today as:

  • John Wood (Blue Heelers)

  • Bec Cartwright (Home and Away)

  • James Tomkins (Triple Olympic gold medalist)

  • Pauline Hanson (Politician and founder of One Nation)

  • Matt Shirvington (Athlete)

  • Dr Katrina Warren (Television vet)

  • Justin Melvey (Actor and model)

  • Gabrielle Richens ('The Pleasure Machine' and television host)

Currently each celebrity is being put through their paces by their dance partners in intensive rehearsals, to ensure they're in the best possible shape for the live first show in October. They'll want to wow audiences with their dance routines in week one, because from the second show, one couple will be eliminated each week. In addition to a panel of studio judges, there will be a public SMS and phone-line vote. The judges' rankings will be averaged with the public vote to determine who will be eliminated each week.

Directed by Ted Emery and accompanied by musical director Chong and The John Farnham Band, the eight-week series will be telecast live from Seven's South Melbourne studios.

DANCING WITH THE STARS is based on the smash-hit BBC format Strictly Come Dancing. Granada Productions is producing the show under licence from BBC Worldwide.
